'A breath of fresh air in a market of Display Home sameness' - You be the judge...this superb home was awarded HIA Victorian Residential Building Designer of the Year 2010/2011.  The Mondrian - Marklews newest single storey design is set on a large and prestigious site in the Bayside suburb of Black Rock. Market research and comprehensive customer questioning determined that a single storey design would be particularly appropriate for the site.  A majority of respondents indicated that where there is sufficient land, it is preferable to live on one level with aspects to private open space and not divide the family or functions into upstairs and downstairs.  And the Judges agreed.  View further images under the Display section of this site.

GREAT Designs, GREAT Builders - Uniquely, the Marklews Design service embraces the knowledge, ideas and professional input of Builder, Architect, Client and Interior Designer to create, then detail, a cohesive finished product.


An individually designed home is a matter of process and most importantly, getting those processes right.  Before meeting to discuss a design brief both builder and architect inspect your site and discuss features, constraints and complications.

Proceeding to a design brief meeting the agenda is then focused on your individual family requirements, the way your family functions and the required spaces.  The Marklews Design team work to produce a design exclusively for you whilst balancing lifestyle requirements, space utilisation, aesthetics, energy efficiency and environmental responsibility; at the same time remaining conscious of your design brief and investment value.

From that design brief meeting, sketch plans are prepared.  The plans are discussed between Builder, Architect and Interior Designer, refined as necessary and presented to you at a special client meeting.  With no pressure on you to accept or proceed, the developed designs are professionally explained.  You are a partner in the process and will take away the plans and explanations, returning with comment and feedback.  Once sketch plans are finalised the project proceeds to the preparation of a costing estimate and from there to contract documentation.
